Job Title: Controller
Job Location: Denver (Hybrid, 4 Days in Office and 1 Day Remote)
Job Salary: $120,000-$125,000 Base + Bonus

We are a well-established and growing company specializing in the design, build and installation of high-quality retail, food/beverage, and healthcare products based in Denver. We are an industry leader in our space and are looking to hire a talented Controller to join our team immediately.

As the Controller, you will be instrumental in maintaining the financial well-being and operational effectiveness of the organization by overseeing key accounting and financial processes, guiding team members, and supporting strategic initiatives. We are looking for a candidate with a strong combination of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and leadership skills. This is a full time, permanent position on a hybrid basis in Denver (4 days a week in office, 1 day work from home). 

Key Responsibilities: Team Support, Month-End Close, Software Integration, Project Costing, Cash Flow Monitoring, Process Improvement, Financial Reporting, Team Structure Optimization, Fixed Asset Management, Project Cost Variance Reporting, Budget Alignment, Contract Analysis, Scalability Planning, Forecasting & Planning, Data Integrity, Internal Controls & Compliance, Performance Analytics

•  Manage and mentor a team of six accountants, including AP, AR, Staff Accountants, and an Accounting Manager. Conduct regular 1:1s to ensure alignment and growth.
• Review and hold the team accountable for timely completion of recurring month-end tasks, ensuring accurate and on-time financial statement issuance.
• Lead the selection, evaluation, and seamless integration of new sales tax and expense management software with NetSuite.
• Review and analyze job cost details for custom projects, working with quoting and project teams to address material variances and expected costs.
• Develop cash flow models to optimize vendor payments, maximize early payment discounts, enhance investment returns, and minimize aged receivables through AR and sales team collaboration.
• Evaluate and revamp existing NetSuite-centric month-end processes to improve efficiency and reduce close time.
• Identify and resolve process bottlenecks with scalable, sustainable solutions to alleviate team pain points.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements for CFO review, proactively addressing variances before Board presentations.
• Conduct task time studies and analyze the accounting team's structure to ensure scalability and efficiency, recommending best practices and system improvements.
• Maintain the fixed asset module, including policy enforcement, asset tracking, and depreciation alignment.
• Develop NetSuite-driven systems to report and monitor project cost variances.
• Assist in budget preparation, ensuring alignment with month-end accruals and accurate financial statement recognition.
• Provide accounting and financial insights for customer project contracts to ensure profitability and compliance.
• Offer proactive staffing recommendations supported by role metrics to meet the demands of a growing business.
• Support CFO with detailed forecasting and long-term financial planning to guide strategic decision-making.
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data within the accounting system through periodic reviews and reconciliations.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with GAAP, and meet regulatory requirements.
• Develop and monitor key financial and operational performance metrics, providing actionable insights to management, specifically management dashboards.

Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of experience in full cycle accounting
• 2+ years of experience in directly managing a team
• NetSuite experience is preferred but not required
