We are a leading manufacturer of process gas compressors and we continue to grow. We are seeking a Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. This person will ensure that EHS systems and programs are properly carried out and maintained for effective and efficient compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and provides occupational safety training for all our employees according to Cal-OSHA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
-Develop, coordinate, and present department/section-specific training classes on EHS programs for supervisors and employee groups in a train-the-trainer format. (I.e., Forklift Training, Aerial Lift Platform, Crane Training, HazCom Training, LOTO, etc.)
-Assist department/section leader in the implementation and execution of all EHS programs.
-Participate in periodic site inspections for all facilities (CA and TX).
-Perform work to develop written safety programs.
-Assist in translating to Spanish as needed. Assist EHS department head in monitoring environmental controls.
-Monthly VOC's
-Storm Water Sampling and Monthly Observations
-Hazardous Waste Inspections and Disposal
-Monitor completion of shop inspections. (Paint booths, Blast booths, Baghouse, Spill Kits, Cranes, Forklifts, Fire Extinguishers, Ladders, Eyewash Stations, etc.)
-Participate as an auditor for our sister company audits, as needed.
-Asses health and safety, evaluate trends and best practices to assist in the development of procedures in accordance with Cal/OSHA regulations.
-Coordinate annual and semi-annual inspections of fire alarms, sprinkles, backflows, and fire extinguishers.
Qualifications
-Must be self-motivated, energetic, and independent thinker.
-Must exhibit passion for safety compliance and environmental controls.
-Demonstrate clear and effective communications skills across a diverse range of personnel.
-Minimum: 2 years of related health and safety experience in general industry or construction.
-Preferred: BS degree in EH&S discipline or equivalent Engineering or Science Degree.
-Preferred Qualifications and Competencies: Comprehensive understanding of environmental, health and safety management practices, principles and procedures.
-Demonstrate successful leadership and guidance of health and safety management and interaction with all levels of management.
-Intermediate in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
-Bilingual. Able to read, write and speak in Spanish.
